Winter Shaggy Manes

Experts are gobsmacked by the earliest ever sprouting of a mushroom known in Britain - in February.

The shaggy inkcaps usually don't emerge until summer but have burst forth at Prawle Point, South Devon - months ahead of schedule.

It is the earliest ever sighting of the mushroom in the UK since records began half a century ago. (read more...)
